Pool Covers
There are several types of pool covers available for the pool owner. Each cover types has it's specific function and consequently associated cost. The most common types are the mesh leaf cover, winter cover, mesh safety cover, and the solid safety cover. When the leaves start falling the mesh leaf cover is designed to keep falling leaves, pine cones, acorns, etc. from reaching the bottom of the pool. It is fitted to the maximum width and length of the pool and secured with water bags. It collects all the falling debris at the surface making it easy to remove prior to taking the cover off. This cover is intended to be removed after the falling of leaves. The second cover is a solid winter cover and is fitted the same as a mesh leaf cover. This cover is intended to be used throughout the winter season. Secured by water bags, it will prevent water and debris from getting into the pool. This cover will need to be pumped out and the debris removed prior to opening the pool in the spring. The two remaining covers are safety covers and will prevent any animal or person from falling into the cover and potentially drowning. They are secured with a series of deck anchors and spring clips along the perimeter of the pool. The safety cover is best suited for unsecured pools or where unsupervised children and pets might fall into the pool once it is covered. The mesh safety cover allows the rain water to pass through into the pool where the solid cover will not. The solid cover will come with a cover pump to keep water from building up on it when it rains. The mesh leaf cover and winter cover range in price from about $100 to $250 for most common pools. The safety covers will range from $1600 to $3000 with installation for residential pools. Know what you are buying before purchasing a cover for your pool.
